MO grant to increase food supply chain resilience


JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - As the pandemic has highlighted supply issues within the meat industry, Republican Gov. Mike Parson has taken action to sure things up.

Gov. Parson announced the creation of the Missouri Meat and Poultry Processing Grant in an effort to increase food supply chain resilience, by providing up to $200,000 in funding to processors to increase their production capacity.

Grants Manager Liz Roberts says the $20 million grant funding will be distributed in a tier system, incentivizing processors to be state and federally inspected and increase processing capacity.

Grant applications are due August 31.
